The main columns of "China Surface Engineering" magazine include invited papers, engineering frontiers, overseas papers, surface engineering research, remanufacturing engineering research, application examples, overseas paper abstracts of Chinese scholars, etc., mainly publish new experimental research results in surface engineering and remanufacturing engineering, as well as research progress and major engineering cases in energy saving, material saving, and environmental protection. The main readers of the magazine are teachers and students of universities engaged in surface engineering and remanufacturing engineering, technical personnel of scientific research institutes and equipment management cadres.
The journal enjoys a high reputation in the academic world. In 2001, it was selected as a dual-effect journal of the "Chinese Journal Phalanx", in 2008, it was included in the fifth edition of the "Chinese Core Journal Essentials Overview", and has been funded by the "China Association for Science and Technology Excellent Science and Technology Journal Project" for many times. In 2016, the journal was officially included in the EI Compendex Index, and in 2017, it was officially included in the Emerging Source Citation Index database.
